God has given us the power to trample on serpents and scorpions. Often we allow ourselves to become fearful so we do not exercise the dominion that God has granted us as His church. I remember Pastor Webb also made the comment that dominion is obtained through fasting and prayer. if we do not stay close to God we will not be able to access dominion when the enemy comes prowling. Been meaning to comment for a while now, just haven’t had the time, but better late than never … This was a timely message!! The Sunday afternoon that this was preached I was going to write a blog entitled; “Riding out the Storm: What is your Foundation”, but praise God, Brother Shayo preached this message for evening service. (Now I have no need to write the blog …. lol, just get the tape) I had just observed that it seemed like a lot of people who surrounded me in my everyday life, Christian/non-Christian, had been going through some tough times. Now having my share of tough times, I always make sure to always turn to Christ, the one who is my anchor in the storms of life and praise God having the opportunity to share and point others in this same direction, to Jesus Christ. I always let people know that I will be available to help, listen, encourage them, pray for them, ect. but ultimately I am only a person, but God works with the impossible and is hope when all seems hopeless, and is strength during times of weakness. If you are going through some waves in life, turn to Jesus. One way we turn to Jesus is as mentioned above “contemplation of His Word (reading the bible and mediating on it) but most importantly, observe to do all that is says for then you and I will be prosperous in Him!” Not to say the Jesus will make all your problems disappear but to say that He is the help you are looking for to see you through your storm.

When Pastor Mike preached this sermon I was reminded of the Sunday School series we watched a long time ago by Pastor Robert Morris called “The Holy Bible: Beyond Words”. Both sermons spoke about the importance of reading the Word of God and how it can change you. When we are not reading the Word of God it is like not taking a shower, and our Spiritual Man starts to stink, and then will eventually die! It’s so easy to miss a day of reading, but on days when I do, I notice that there is a peace that is missing (hehe piece…peace..get it? lol) The word of God brings direction, answers, encouragement, conviction, everything! I’m so grateful for it!
